Teddy (and Emily) are new friends but somehow they feel like a firm part of our friendship group already. Teddy has had all the birthday luck this year. Not only did her birthday fall on a bank holiday, it also was one of the warmest days we have had so far this year. We celebrated by having one of the best picnics ever on top of Primrose Hill in the sunshine. I totally had this in my head the whole time. I of course wanted to take her some birthday cupcakes and couldn’t resist making tiny teddy toppers. As she is over from Canada I chose red and white and finished them with a teeny red flower. I hope she had a lovely day and a memorable birthday in England! x

Music is undoubtedly for me one of the best things in life. It has an ability to express how you’re feeling like nothing else. So for Valentine’s Day I think song lyrics are perfect. Especially ones you can eat. I put a range of different ones on biscuits, some are new, some are old and some are just silly. There are so many great songs to choose from and next time I’m going to make bigger biscuits as some of my fave lyrics wouldn’t all fit on. I do like how personal these can be, and there are definitely a few reserved for some special people. Happy Valentine’s Day! x

The only reason I’m showing baking support for a team other than Great Britain during the Olympics is that Lauren had her ‘Office Olympics’ over the past two weeks. She was allocated South Korea. In order to help her gain some points and win gold I made these cupcakes topped with the South Korean flag.

So summer finally decided to show up this week, and wanting to take advantage of the amazing weather before it disappears again, we decided to go fruit picking. It’s something I try to do every summer. It’s quite relaxing and reminds me of going when I was little. I came home with strawberries and raspberries and no clue what I wanted to do with them. It turned out to be a tart, which I filled with custard and topped with a kind of jam topping made from the fruit I collected. It was the perfect dessert to end our first BBQ of the summer.

Yesterday was my best friend Becki’s birthday. Whenever we get cupcakes she always orders red velvet so I knew that  it was her flavour of choice. I’ve never made it before so when I saw that the mix was really red I assumed that the cake would turn out the same. This was not the case. However it tasted amazing with the classic cream cheese frosting.

One of my best friends has been playing bass since I can remember. He’s amazing. So when I was in New York recently and saw this cutter, I knew exactly what I wanted to make him for his birthday. I decorated them based on my basic knowledge of what a bass looks like, simple and cute if you ask me! I displayed them in this round glass jar and finished with some ribbon. Happy Birthday Sam!
