Anemone Cake
This cake was for my lovely neighbour Gabriele’s 40th birthday party this weekend. She had the most gorgeous garden party with a seriously cool marquee, delicious food and plenty of dancing. I knew a cake that was pretty and elegant would be her style and so I drew inspiration from this black and ivory Peggy Porschen cake for the design. It was my first time making anemones (which I still have trouble pronouncing – why?!) and they turned out really well. I love how the monochrome makes everything look so chic. The flowers I chose to make were unwired and I simply attached them to the cake with royal icing. I lightly dusted the edges of the petals with pink which I then highlighted by placing the cake on a pink stand. To go along with the cake I also made some macarons to match, by decorating them with white sugar flowers which I piped with black dot centres to look like the anemones. Happy Birthday Gabriele! x
