Frozen Cake
Last Saturday at around midday I found myself cider in-hand (yep I knew what time it was) at Sing-a-long Frozen. I, along with my sister, two friends and a cinema full of adult accompanied children belted out all the hits from the beloved film. It was seriously good fun, a great way to spend a rainy afternoon and it was the perfect way to get inspired for the Frozen themed cake I had to make this week. Well, that and the snow that fell midweek! This cake was for Elspeth who was turning 4 – you may remember her strawberry cake from last year. I wanted the design to be sweet and simple. I added a snowy top to a blue fondant cake and attached some shimmery snowflakes. I completely covered the white snow in edible glitter so it would be extra magical and spelt out her name on top. I chose to use a few plastic characters so that she could keep them to play with. Much more fun. To make the cake even more special I decided to make the inside ‘Frozen’ too. I did this by baking 4 layers each with an increasing amount of blue colouring to give it that ombre effect. Happy 4th Birthday Elspeth! xx
Hi Nicole, Elspeth LOVED the cake.. as did her friends and all the parents. There was a little scuffle when some of her friends tried to get Elsa for themselves, but Elspeth won that battle! Nas xxx
Hey Nas! So so glad she loved the cake :) That Elsa was definitely hers! I saw her sweet video message :) Hope she had a brilliant party. See you soon xxx
