Happy Birthday Kate
This weekend was full of fun and reminiscing. It started by returning to my past school to see my friend’s youngest brother give his end of year speech as Head Boy at Summer Meeting. It was brilliant being surrounded by familiar faces and reliving all my school memories. We wandered around all the old classrooms, which all smelt bizarrely the same. Especially the science block, ugh. I was particularly pleased to come across some kids piping cupcakes in the Food Tech kitchens. It was great to gather together and celebrate Peter graduating and the school that brought us all together. Which leads me to telling you about this cake. My school friend Beth and her lovely family were a part of the celebrations and attended Summer Meeting with us. She asked me to make a cake for her Mum as they were also celebrating her birthday this weekend. Beth’s Mum, Kate, is always so sweet and supportive about my baking and blog so I wanted to make her something special. I was inspired by this cake I saw recently and fell in love with the stylised flatter flowers. I enjoyed trying to recreate the shapes and colours into a wreath of flowers for the top of the cake and included her name for the centre. It was so great to catch up this weekend and I hope she had a lovely birthday yesterday. Happy Birthday Kate! x
