Mr and Mrs Booker

On Saturday my best friends Steve and Alexia got married. I can’t begin to describe how incredible the day was. It was full of so much love, laughter and beautiful moments that I know they, and everyone else will remember forever. It was such an honour to be a part of their big day, not only getting to be a Bridesmaid but to make the wedding cake for your favourite people was beyond special.

Planning and designing the cake with them was so much fun – there was a lot of Pinterest boards, cake tasting and discussions on sizes. For the cake I stuck with the neutral colour scheme with the green and gold highlights. I knew it had to feature some flowery elements for Alexia and took inspiration from the wonderful floral plans that she and Steph had made for the bouquets. I wanted Alexia’s beloved succulents to be a focus feature and knew that the gold edged ones she was going to have would be perfect with the gold leaf tier they had chosen for one of the layers. Steve’s idea to put the date on the cake was awesome – it made it so personal and was a very cool touch. The cake was topped with an acrylic version of their wedding stationary logo. Alongside the main cake I made two little fruit cakes decorated with more succulents to match. I’m so pleased with how it all came together and I know I will look back on making this cake with such happiness for a long time to come.

A huge thank you to Ben for taking these photos for me and capturing my cake so perfectly.

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Booker – may your life together be full of many more sweet moments.

  1. I follow the gang (Steve, Ben, Louis, Dave – you name them) on YouTube as well as other social media so I did “witness” the run-up to the wedding and can I just say – this cake looks absolutely fantastic. It seems very fitting, though they kept their wedding private (rightly so!) but just looking at the cake, I think it fits them perfectly. They really are a great couple (and Alexia’s dress/hair looks GORGEOUS on the photo above!!).
