Palm Trees and Peace Signs Cake
I’m completely in love with this cake. It was an order to celebrate a lovely lady called Holly’s 21st birthday. To design the cake I did a few things. I spoke with her Mum about the kind of party she was having, including colour schemes, invitations and table settings. She also linked me to Holly’s Pinterest, this gave me a good idea visually of all the things she likes. We decided to include her love of palm trees, beachy vibes and inspiring texts. I saw a Hey There Cupcake! Cake that used patterns and text in a cool way which inspired the design. Keeping to the monochrome theme I set about making my own patterns and prints to use on the cake. I then printed these on to sugar sheets to wrap around two of the tiers of the cake. The cake itself was chocolate with coconut frosting. For the text I free hand copied one of her favourite messages on to wafer paper. To match this I also made a wafer paper flower for the top tier to resemble the Chanel camellia. Once at the venue I added the ‘H’ cake topper that was black sparkly acrylic that mimicked the party invitations. Happy 21st Birthday Holly!
