Stylist Live
I was walking out of the Business Design Centre on Sunday when I turned to my sister and said ‘I’m so happy no one tried to sell me a garlic peeler’. Not that I expected it to be, but Stylist Live wasn’t like any other exhibition show. It was filled with a mix of well-loved brands and cute boutique businesses, inspiring guests and tasty treats.
Stylist Live is basically Stylist Magazine come to life with great talks, fashion and food. My Mum, sister Lauren, friend Shereene and I got there early and within the first few minutes of arriving I had a glass of Prosecco in one hand and a Lindt ball in the other. Not a bad breakfast. We headed straight for the awesome photo backgrounds to snap a few photos under the Stylist logo. The pink balloons were my fave, mostly because they matched my drink. We then wandered around the shopping stands – highlights included Ultra Tee, this epic BOB skirt and the succulent sign at Aveda. There were plenty of goodies to snack on such as cute cakes from Pearl and Groove but I opted to fill my face with a super pumpkin doughnut from Crosstown Doughnuts as I’d been talking about doughnuts all morning. The lovely and very cool Edith Bowman signed some copies of her British Festival Book for us – it was great to chat to her and share our favourite festival experiences.
Normally fashion shows at exhibitions are a bit dodgy and just an excuse for me to sit down in a long day of walking. However, the Stylist Live catwalk was actually pretty great, full of outfits you would actually want to wear. I even found myself desperately searching on my phone at lunchtime trying to purchase some of the pieces I saw.
The highlight of the day had to be a talk by Katie Piper. Hearing her share her incredible story was truly inspiring. She spoke in a brilliant way – balancing her serious and difficult journey with some of the light-hearted moments that got her through. You could just tell the whole room was in awe of this astounding woman.
Our day was brilliant. See you next year Stylist Live!
