Ballet and Blooms
Happy New Year! I hope 2016 is a wonderful one for you. Sorry if you’re on a health, no sugar, vegan, whatever kick but there’s going to be lots of cakey and foodie travel posts coming up this week. Having a little catch up to ease myself in to this year. Starting with this 80th birthday cake I made just before Christmas. I wanted to keep it pretty and floral while still incorporating the party theme that celebrated the birthday girl’s love of ballet. I covered the chocolate cake in pink sugar paste and decorated the sides in piped white dots. I decorated the top edge with little hand made ballet slippers, roses, hydrangeas and leaves. I loved making this cake – secretly it was nice to have a little non-Christmas project to make on the 20th December.
