Gemma Correll Biscuits for Ohh Deer

Ohh_Deer_01

Super cool gift company Ohh Deer got in touch to see if I would recreate some of mega-talented illustrator Gemma Correll’s work to celebrate the launch of a load of new products featuring her designs. I love her work so much – it’s cute, funny and full of those everyday truths that make us laugh. Check out all her amazing work here.

To make the biscuits I started with some large circle vanilla biscuits which I flooded with white royal icing. I then used a black edible pen to draw out her designs. This was a fun challenge, as copying someone else’s style is always a little tricky. I used

Friends Cupcakes

How YOOOOOOU doing?

I’ve pretty much spent most of my life watching Friends. I started watching it when I was pretty little. Although I obviously didn’t understand all the jokes way back when (the fake laughing in the background was the judge of when to laugh) it’s one of those programmes that I didn’t stop enjoying the older I got, it just got better.

We had some of the first series on VHS when I was young and when I was sick and off school I would watch Friends. That’s just what ya do. I must have seen those ones thousands of times. I remember we used to get my Aunt who lived in America to tape them and send them over as the episodes aired there way before the UK (extra bonus: she used to cut out the ads, probably quite a skill in the 90s).

It’s one of those shows that you can watch with whoever, whenever and it doesn’t stop being funny. I’d watch it with my grandparents, when I got home from school, when I got home from Uni, even now when I’m taking a baking break…It’s full of great characters, silly catchphrases and will always be one of my faves.

A fellow Friends-lover Shannon had her birthday last week so I made her these to celebrate. It was so much fun making all the little Friends icons, especially the

Oliver Bonas Christmas in July

Oliver_Bonas_01

It’s Chriiiiiiiiistmaaaaaaaaas! I know it’s a bit weird looking at Christmas things in the middle of July but it’s totally a thing. Tons of companies have ‘Christmas in July’ where they display all their upcoming festive products on a special press day. I was asked by the lovely ladies at Oliver Bonas to make some biscuit favours for their event last week. They wanted biscuits to match their ombré bauble collection and branded with their alternative logo which you can see here.

I had lots of fun figuring out how to make them – I’d never airbrushed before, but knew this would give the best effect and look most like the baubles. I invested in this airbrush which I think is now one of the best things I’ve bought. It was easy to use with clear instructions. I also used

Biscuits for Betty

Betty_Biscuits_01

I can’t begin to tell you how much I loved making these flowery biscuits for Betty Magazine’s 5th Birthday and new issue launch partaaay. Betty is a super cool independent magazine covering food, fashion and lifestyle. Guys, I want to live in the magazine – it’s filled with THE most gorgeous photos! The theme was #BettyInBloom and the whole place was a photo taking dream. The whitewashed JJ Studios loft space was filled with flowers from Harriet Parry (including a whole flower wall!) dotted with Oliver Bonas furniture and stocked full of Vicky’s Donuts, Koval whisky cocktails and Lapp Cocktail Ice lollies (the peach bellini one was mega). I made these bold vanilla flower biscuits in bright colours including some to match the
